Alright we are on the last day of my mini-series of easy/lazy snack and meals and we’re rounding out day five with a simple snack or dessert. The vlog where I make all of the recipes in this series is also now LIVE on the YouTube channel so go check it out and thank you in advance for the support!
Applesauce is typically made with apples that have been cooked down first, but I discovered this simpler, no cook, raw option years ago when I was using apples as a base in some of my baked goods (like I do in my Blueberry Muffins). I’ve actually only ever eaten this applesauce prior to making the vlog when I’ve had leftovers from baking.
But it’s tasty, sweet and a great little treat (especially for kids) when you quite literally want to spice it up a bit rather than just eating an apple. If you happen to make the recipe and don’t enjoy it raw, though, you can easily throw it into a saucepan and cook it down for a bit to make an applesauce compote and refrigerate it to cool before serving.
Same as with my Air-Popped Popcorn recipe, I doubt I need to describe the flavor of applesauce as I think pretty much everyone has eaten it before. It’s sweet, smooth, and satisfying.
If you try out this recipe, please share it with me by commenting here or on my YouTube channel, or even tagging me in a photo on Instagram @plantsnotplastic. I read every comment and love hearing from you. Be sure to check out the full vlog to see me make each of these live, and check back for my other recipes from this series and ENJOY!

- 1/4 tsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp sugar sub agave or maple syrup
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients and blend on high until a smooth applesauce as formed. Add more water as needed to get apples to blend, but use as little as possible so the applesauce doesn't come out too watery.
