My first DSLR was a Canon Rebel T6i, which I now use as my second camera. The T6i is discontinued and the T7i is the next closest available (and slightly more expensive). It's a great starter DSLR camera and has fabulous capabilities for the price. I originally bought the kit to get a variety of accessories to learn and play with.

My current primary camera. Still a cropped frame camera, but shoots in 4K and 120fps (great for slow motion and high-quality, cinematic footage). A good option if you're looking for a higher-quality DSLR or ready for an upgrade.

This is my current lens for food photography. Nicknamed "the nifty fifty" in the photography world, this is a fabulous first non-kit lens option to expand your gear and give you beautiful, boca-ful shots without breaking the bank.

Pair this with your nifty fifty lens for an inexpensive, super-zoom option for food shots. You can even double up on them for very close macro shots.

This lens, nicknamed the "pancake" lens because it's so compact, is a great starter addition to your camera equipment for videos and vlogging. I currently use this with my primary camera for all my videos.

I use a basic UV filter to protect my lenses from food splatter during shoots. Make sure to buy the right size to fit your lens!

A solid, lightweight aluminum tripod that allows for overhead shots (which is why I bought it!). I have two for each camera angle in my recipe videos.

This is my current light kit. It's a good starter kit for the price and has taken care of me so far (though I'll be excited to upgrade when the budget allows). The stands are also versatile so I use them as a boom mic stand, light bounce stand, etc.

One of the top light brands in the photography community, for those who have the money to spend. This will definitely be my next upgrade when the budget allows!

An industry-loved mic, Rode is a great brand. I went with a corded rather than wireless mic since I'm pretty static in the kitchen. It's my first lav mic and has taken good care of me and my audio needs! Does need to be purchased with the Rode SC3 to be compatible with a DSLR, as well as the Rode SC1 Extension Cable.

I use this for B-camera footage. Great for vlogging and easy quick camera setup.

I use these for photo and video (and I have two of them). Gives beautiful soft light for photos and a great light bounce for photos or videos.

A large memory card is essential for video. 128gb is a bit overkill but I didn't want to worry about running out of space (32 or 64gb would be fine as well).

Supplemental storage is essential for me! I have additional HHD storage on my computer for all my files, but an external hard drive is a good option - especially if you take lots of footage on the go and want to download it off of your memory cards. You could also purchase a monthly subscription for cloud storage if you wanted to be zero waste about it!
